Klondike, with nothing in the way — and a solver that tells you the truth about your game.
What it does
Solitaire Edge is Klondike the way you remember it: draw one or draw three, standard or Vegas scoring, multi-step undo, drag or tap. No account to create and nothing to unlock.
Then it goes further than any deck of cards has to. In Guaranteed mode, every deal comes from a set a solver has already played through to a win with Standard scoring, in both Draw 1 and Draw 3. Play it with Standard scoring and, if you lose, the cards were not the reason. Prefer it the old way? Classic mode deals at random, winnable or not.
The edge
- Every Guaranteed deal can be won with Standard scoring.Guaranteed mode deals from seeds a solver has proven winnable with Standard scoring, in both Draw 1 and Draw 3.
- A hint that tells you how sure it is.It searches for a line that still wins from where you are and shows the first move. When it cannot prove one in time, it falls back to a safe move chosen by rule rather than by a full search, and when it has to guess, it tells you it is a guess.
- A coach that tells you the truth.It tells you whether the deal can still be won. When it can pin down the move where the win slipped away, it shows you that move and lets you rewind to it and play on. When it cannot tell, it says so.
- Today’s Deal.A new deal every day, the same for everyone playing the same draw.
- Hints cost points.25 in Standard scoring, 5 in Vegas, once per new board.
And the rest of the table
- Stats, with streaks.For every draw and scoring mode, including your win and losing streaks.
- Your own leaderboards.One set for each mode: best score, fewest moves and best time. Nobody else’s scores, just yours.
- A running Vegas total, if you want one.Off unless you turn it on. Your points carry from deal to deal, each new deal costs its 52-point buy-in, and you can reset the total in Stats.
- Colour-blind suits.Hearts and diamonds drawn hollow, clubs and spades solid, so red and black differ by shape as well as colour.
- Card backs.A choice of colours for the back of the deck.
Free, and it means it
Solitaire Edge is free. No in-app purchases, nothing to unlock, no subscription, no popups while you play. There is one tab, More Games, that lists some of our other apps. That is the only promotion in the app and it never appears during a game.
It collects no data: your settings, saved game and stats stay on your device. The privacy page has the details, including the one thing Game Center does on iPhone and iPad.
Who it’s for
Anyone who wanted a solitaire game that respects their break. It is made by one developer, and it is a sibling to Blackjack Edge and Video Poker Edge: all three are built to tell you the real number.
